ICADR - An Introduction
The justice dispensing system in India has come under great stress for several reasons, chief of them being the huge pendency of cases in courts underlining the need for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods. The Government of India thought it necessary to provide a new forum and procedure for resolving international and domestic commercial disputes quickly.
The ICADR is an autonomous organization with its Headquarters at New Delhi and Regional Centres at Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The Regional Centres of ICADR are fully funded and supported by the respective State Governments.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of India is the Chairperson of ICADR. The Governing Council of ICADR comprises of several eminent personalities drawn from various fields.
The ICADR, Regional Centre, Hyderabad was established in the year 1998 by the erstwhile Government of Andhra Pradesh. It is presently serving both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Hon’ble Chief Justice for the State of Telangana is its Patron. The Advisory Council consists of the Law Secretary, Finance Secretary, Advocate-General, Engineer-in-Chief and others as its Members.
